It's November 18th and in todays daily flood education video we are discussing Swiss cheese and flood insurance.

Before we get started on this crazy topic remember to checkout our daily flood education videos on our YouTube channel or our facebook page Flood Insurance Guru.

So in todays video we are talking about Swiss cheese and flood insurance.

What in the world do these two things have in common. Trust me I spend alot of time with both and I can tell you both are similar.

Have you ever seen someone walking around in jeans that have holes. You ask them how long have they had those jeans?

They tell you they just bought them.

You are probably thinking why are you paying more for jeans that have holes in them?

Well the same could be said for Swiss cheese and more importantly flood insurance.

I am sure you have heard the saying but isn't all flood insurance the same. It's all set by the government.

This actually isn't true there are private flood insurance options available as well.

Just because you have a policy through the National Flood Insurance Program does not mean it doesn't have holes like a piece of Swiss Cheese.

In this video we look at 4 main areas where we normally see this gap.

  1. Building coverage
  2. Contents coverage
  3. Additional living expenses
  4. Coverage for below grade structures

During a flood insurance claim is not the time to find out you don't have the right coverage. We actually had a customer that had an experience like that.

According to the Omaha World Herald 2019 Nebraska experienced major flooding. You had ice bergs blocking parts of the Missouri River causing river water to enter homes.

Most people didn't have additional living expenses because they had their flood policy through the National Flood Insurance Program. However this particular customer did have additional living expenses because we set them up with it on their private flood insurance.

So they had a temporary place to live for 6 months when others on her street did not.

You don't know you have a gap in flood insurance coverage, we are here to help you fill these gaps.
